Knitting is not just a craft; it’s a form of artistry that allows you to create beautiful and practical items with your own two hands! When it comes to making baby clothes, the joy of creating something adorable and functional is unparalleled. Today, we’re going to delve into the world of knitting a baby hat, but with a modern twist – using the Sentro Knitting Machine. This innovative tool brings efficiency and precision to your knitting projects, making the process both fun and rewarding. You’ll have a completed project in your hands in under an hour!

Getting Started: Before diving into the knitting process, it’s essential to gather all the necessary materials. For this project, you’ll need:

  1. Sentro Knitting Machine (40 needles)
  2. Soft baby yarn in your preferred color (weight 3 or 4)
  3. Crochet hook (for picking up dropped stitches)
  4. Scissors
  5. Tapestry needle
  6. Pom Poms (optional)

First things first, make sure your Sentro knitting machine is set to Tube mode (T for ‘Tube’, P for ‘Panel’).

Beginning at your starting peg, thread your yarn through the machine. If you aren’t sure how to do this, watch the YouTube video at the top of this post!

Work 120 rounds of knitting.

Life hack: get a drill attachment for your Sentro knitting machine and save your arm from cramping up! Just don’t go too fast with a drill because you can wear out the crank.

Once you’ve knit 120 rows and are back at your starting peg, cut your yarn tail at about one foot in length.

Holding your yarn tail taut, crank the machine around for one row.

Once you are back at the starting peg again, pick up your stitches onto your tapestry needle and thread them all the way through.

When your work is off the machine, pull the thread tight so that the top of the hat is cinched closed.

Using the yarn tail from the beginning of your work at the opposite end, cinch the bottom of the hat closed too.

Fold the bottom half of the hat in on itself to make a double knit hat.

Sew the two layers together at the top so that the hat holds its shape.

If you’d like to add a pom pom, sew one in at the top! I used these pom poms from Amazon

Fold up the bottom of the hat to make a brim and voila – an adorable baby hat!

This baby hat came together in just half an hour and turned out SO cute. You can whip these out in tons of different colors for the babies in your life, or sell them on Etsy!
